Ink Pens, Abstracts, and the End of All Things (mainly art class)

Monday was the last day of art class, and I have but one thing to say to you all:

FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOM.

*wild screeching*

*energetic fist-pumping*

*crazed cackling*

*flips the table*

I get to paint what I want now. No more modern art. No more mutilated-looking fish. Nothing but a blank canvas and the prospect of as many LotR masterpieces as I want.

It’s lovely.

Now I know I’ve had many things to say about this class, most of which are derogatory, but when it comes right down to it, it wasn’t all bad. Barring Paul Klee and his horrid modern style (no offense to modern art lovers, but I will NEVER understand the stuff), I learned quite a bit. (Including essay-writing, but that’s a tale for another time.) There definitely wasn’t enough portrait painting, which is my one true love in art, but… eh well. I obviously survived despite it, so that’s a plus.

And HEY. I’ve discovered the merit of INK DRAWINGS. And my life has been a fuller and more purposeful thing because of it. May I present to you… *draws curtain with a flourish* My new children. *gestures wildly below*

Ain’t they beautiful? Their names are Harry, Larry, Gary, Jerry, Perry, and Barry. I love them.

Anyway. Let’s have an art dump, shall we?

 

Naturally, the first thing I drew with my new ink pens was Kylo Ren, because… reasons. I shall refrain from reciting some insipid quote about the Force.

 

Still refraining.

(And seriously, WHY did I do this on lined paper? For being such a genius, I can do some pretty dumb things sometimes.)

 

The blue stuff isn’t ink, just so we’re clear. But the sword is.

 

Look, I’ve had Star Wars on my mind a lot, okay?

(If I was a high-falutin’ calligraphy expert like half my friends, you would be seeing some pretty penmanship on that thing. However, I am NOT a high-falutin’ calligraphy expert, so… you get my crooked, boring hand-writing. Get over it.)

Okay. This little horror was done on FABRIC in memory of Paul Klee, who did that sort of thing for some inexplicable (and probably stupid) reason.

(I really need to stop throwing shade at that poor guy.)

Do you all remember my last attempt at fabric painting? After that incident, I thought this boat-thing was quite a step up. So I brought it home from class, infinitely pleased with myself, and showed it to my family. Anna said (and I quote)…

“Wow, Sarah, that’s pretty horrible.”

If you are the kind of person that never takes anything personally, like myself, DON’T TELL ANYONE. Particularly blunt INFPs. They will take advantage of it.

 

 

This, my friends, is the last piece of modern art I will ever have to do. Ever. And it’s actually not too shabby, if I do say so myself. I was quite pleased with it. Even Anna acquiesced to pay it a compliment, so I must have done SOMETHING write.

(Write. Why did I type that? I’m starting to become a pathetic writer person who can’t get the subject out of her head even when she’s spewing about a topic COMPLETELY removed from it. Someone, please help.)

 

This creepy looking dude is a random character from a random story. (As vague and uninformative as that is.) I made his chin 0.0003ths of a millimeter off-center, and it’s driving me crazy.

 

So anyway. That’s how productive I’ve been on the art front of late. Not very impressive, I know. Oh well. I am no longer restrained by the bonds of a class telling me what to do, so…

I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!!!
