Blue Sky Tag (AKA me rambling about myself)

Well what do you know. I’ve been tagged.

00.gif

Tremendous thanks, hand shaking, and purple glitter go to the amazing Kate Flournoy of The Inky Notebook, along with strong encouragement for my peeps to go check out her blog, because it’s pretty cool. (And SO BEAUTIFUL, oh my goodness. What’s with these people and their beautiful blogs? I can’t compete, man.)

Kate… *shakes your hand* If at any point in time, my answers happen to look like yours, I can only attribute it to the fact that you obviously must be brilliant. Great minds think alike, you know.

Now. Onward.

1. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

I’ve been waiting my whole life for someone to ask me this…

*diabolical smile slowly spreads as I pull you close and whisper in your ear*

Mind power.

*echoing laughter*

2. What sort of things make you laugh?

Funny things.

a00.gif

Hey, you asked.

*cough*

Okay, okay, fine. Literally EVERYTHING makes me laugh (no joke), but to pick out a few things… One-liners make me laugh. People tripping. Humanity being dumb. Myself being dumber. My mother being… herself, in general, which is a marvelous thing, to say the least.

3. If you had to live in a time period different than the present, which would you choose, and where?

Let’s be clear: The Regency Era (AKA the time of Jane Austen) was the greatest period of history to ever be invented. NOBODY DID ANYTHING ALL DAY LONG! It’s wonderful.

Plus, they had some pretty cool clothes. Just sayin’.

4. What’s your favorite instrument?

Those flute things the elves play in Rivendell.

0.jpg

I don’t know what it is, but I like it.

And cellos. Cellos are nice.

5. How would you react if somebody replied with “K”?

Uh… I’ve never had reason to contemplate this.

6. If you were stuck on a deserted island and you could only bring one thing, what would it be, and why?

I would bring a boat. For obvious reasons.

7. If you had to choose between being a ninja or a superhero, which one would you pick?

The idea of slinking around in the shadows while everyone else is totally clueless that a vague and threatening presence is sneaking up on them sounds very enticing to me, so we’re going to go with ninja.

8. If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be?

Every sarcastic character ever.

Lessee… Gandalf (we would bond over a mutual disgust for the stupidity of humans), Obi-Wan Kenobi (equally mutual disgust, and a lovely competition for the most snarky, fed-up wisecrack), and Captain America (he doesn’t need to have sarcasm, because DUH, he’s Captain America).

And Edmund Pevensie (AKA King of the Single Eyebrow Lift). And Galadriel, obviously, because it’s been too long since I’ve seen myself. And maybe Effie Trinket, because I really want to ask her how she balances in those heels.

And that’s way more than three. I’m sorry.

(You were expecting me to mention some villain, weren’t you. Look, I prefer to not get stabbed with a steak knife, thank you very much.)

(Except maybe by Loki. I think Loki and I would get along quite well.)

(Yep, we’re adding Loki to the list.)

9. Is there a hobby/skill that you’ve always wanted to try but never did?

Archery. One day, guys, one day.

10. What’s the worst (or best, depending how you look at it) pun you can think of?

This is a question for my father, not me. That man could make a pun out of… horrible pun material.

(And a point goes to Sarah for her stellar metaphors.)

Okay. Fair warning, this is horribly lame (aren’t all puns?) but it’s literally the only thing I can think of that happened recently. You know during the Battle of Helmsdeep, when Aragorn and Gimli are stuck outside the Keep, fending off orcs while the gate’s being fortified? (Typical Theoden… “Aragorn! Get out of there!” as he proceeds to close the gate and seal up literally the only way out of there.) When Legolas, situated on top of the wall, throws a rope down and single-handedly pulls them both up, I, at some point in my life, chanced to make the remark, “Man, it really pays to have friends in high places.”

At the time, I was only thinking about the fact that Legolas is an elf, much classier than a mortal, and infinitely stronger. So obviously, he’s much higher in the social realm than, say, the greasy-haired, human Aragorn.

I kid you not, I never considered the fact that he was standing on top of a wall.

11. Think of a person. What song do you associate with them?

*haughty sniff* I don’t associate songs with people.

(AKA my mind is suddenly going blank. Come back later.)

Yup. There it is. Now the time has come to STEP FORTH, brave friends, because I tag…

Uh…

Actually, I don’t know any bloggers.

*sigh* This is why I never get tagged.

So basically, I’m gonna use the losers’ way out and say I TAG EVERYONE!!! (And Abby Franklin at 360* Writing and Bethia Lark at Reflections on Glass because GUYS, I just realized that I actually DO know bloggers! How exhilarating.)

Go forth and conquer.

~Sarah

(And tell me what YOU would pick to be stuck on a deserted island with, because that’s obviously an everyday occurrence and should be properly prepared for.)

(This is also why I never get tagged. I spend too much time making fun of other people’s questions.)

  1. XD I knew I could count on you for something hilarious. And of course I’m brilliant. You’re just now figuring this out?

Oh and I have good news for you. Those flute things they play in Rivendell? They’re called ‘flutes’.

    1. Hmmm. Whereas in the past I have referred to Sarah and Emma as “Thing 1 & Thing 2”, it appears that I will now be referring to Sarah and YOU as “Big Head 1 & Big Head 2”.

      Love, MOP 😁

  2. Um, Sarah, I tagged YOU on my blog. (Shows how much you pay attention to such things), but you also didn’t ask eleven questions, so…what am I supposed to answer?

    1. Wha… You did? When was that? I just checked your blog, and didn’t see any tag. At least, not recently. Huh.

(Wait, and I was supposed to ask 11 questions? I thought you just answer the ones I did… To be totally honest, I’m really not sure how these tag things work. This is only the second time I’ve done it, and I’m just doing what Kate did.)
      (So it’s your fault, Kate. 😀 )

      1. Yeah, look up the Blue Sky tag on my blog, and your name will be in the list at the bottom. And yes, the instructions I received were to answer the eleven questions, ask eleven more questions, and then pick eleven more people to answer those questions. Only, I don’t know eleven people with blogs. So I did as many as I could. And yours was one of them.

  3. Your dad’s a pun master? Woot! We’re a team. My dad’s a pun master too. ALL. THE. TIME.

If I were stuck on a deserted island, the one thing I’d have would be a wireless computer, of course. I could therefore contact people, listen to music, read, and generally be occupied with many things while I wait to be rescued.
But I wouldn’t be able to eat, which would be sad.

ARCHERY FOREVER!!! I know a little archery. It’s fun, once you build up enough appropriate muscle. Drawing is waaay harder than Legolas and Susan make it look.

    1. Oh great, there’s two of them now… They’ll just encourage each other.

You know, come to think of it, being stuck on a deserted island doesn’t sound so bad. Just get Amazon service and they’ll deliver everything you need and you can live TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY ALONE!!!
*cough* And the introversion strikes again…

  4. I just saw this post! Why have I not seen it earlier?!!? Also, define “everyone” who is tagged. And please explain what on earth that would mean, because it sounds fun but I don’t fully understand it.
Also, I’ve taken archery lessons before, and actually made my own bow with my grandfather (which was awesome) and I loved every second of both of those things. Archery is one of the coolest things ever. Other than reading. And blue. And writing. And being a fangirl. And… you know what? I’m going to stop there.
((random question: may I ask how the drawing of my character is going?))

    1. “Everyone” means you don’t have to be specifically tagged to do it. If you think it sounds like fun, go for it. Aaaand as far as how it works (now please keep in mind, I don’t half know how it works either, but this is what I THINK you do), you start by giving credit to the person you took the tag from (like I gave Kate), and you answer all the questions yourself. Then you tag other people, and it keeps going.

Wait… I sent the drawing to you a week ago. Did you not get the email?

  5. I don’t know why the deserted island question is so perennially popular. Kate’s choice of a radio for getting help sounds sensible, though Chesterton’s answer “Brown’s Guide to Ship Building” wouldn’t be a bad one. I’d probably not be sensible at all and take, I don’t know, a knife or a notebook or something — you know, definitely the notebook (and pencil). Being attacked and not having anything to defend myself with is bad, but there is a fate worse than death, and that is having an idea and no way to write it down or otherwise preserve it.

  6. ‘A boat, for obvious reasons.’ How has no one ever thought of this before????
I’m so very much doing this tag. Thank you for giving me something to post because I have no ideas *shrugs and skips off to write*

  7. My two favorite quotes this time:
“I would bring a boat. For obvious reasons.:
XD Why had I never thought of that??

“(And a point goes to Sarah for her stellar metaphors.)”
I actually laughed (yes, out loud) for this one, and I NEVER do that! My sister and I are using this all the time now.

Fabulous humor and ideas. Keep it up!
(I probably won’t do the tag…it doesn’t really fit the theme of my blog. But it looks really fun! And it was great to read.)

Ohhhhhh and lastly: how do I contact you (Sarah) about your story (Silvershaw of Glenborn)? There is NO COMMENTS SECTION (death glare) but it’s AMAZING and I wanted to TALK to you about it (explodes in a cloud of pent-up angry glitter)!

Sorry I hope that doesn’t come across as demanding…*wonders where to run and hide if it does*

    1. HOLD EVERYTHING, PEOPLE. I JUST BECAME QUOTABLE. I honestly feel like I’ve reached a major milestone…

Ugh, yeah, I can’t figure out how to get a comments section up on the page. *deflects the sizzling death glare into a bowl of water* IT’S NOT MY FAULT! There’s a contact form somewhere up there *gestures vaguely at the top* if you want to email me about it, because PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT MY STORY MAKES ME HAPPY! (Even if it’s a lot worse in real life than the pretty page makes it out to be… Look, it’s called /marketing/, not deception. 😉 )

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Well, I will certainly have to take the opportunity to use the contact page then. And yes, quotability is a major milestone. Quotes are the best. To speak their dialect fluently, as some profound writer has hopefully said, is an impressive feat like unto…*brain glitch* love. *Because everything is like love, as music so clearly demonstrates time and again.*

Anyways, deception, I mean marketing, is certainly a common technique, nowhere more prevalent than the description of a book on the back and the inside of its paper cover thingy. Why people say not to judge a book by its cover is beyond me; a BETTER warning is never, ever, ever think that the blurb on the back of the book has ANYTHING to do with the book itself, because you will always be wrong.

But anyways. I’d still love to see the story, if there is some way to do that! Deception or not, you have talent, so I’m sure it can’t be as bad as…*glances at own writing*…some people’s efforts.
