May the Fourth Be With You!

fourth1.jpg

Yesterday was Star Wars day, which, in all honesty, I didn’t even know was a thing until a couple months ago. But apparently, it is, and Anna decided that we were going to celebrate it. My initial reaction?

Suuure.

I was a little skeptical. Okay, a lot skeptical. I mean, first of all, it’s Star Wars Day. What do you do except walk around quoting cheesy Yoda lines? And second, Anna has had many great ideas in the course of her life, none of which have ever come to pass. Why would this be any different?

I wasn’t taking one very important thing into account:

This was Star Wars. And Star Wars is to Anna what Lord of the Rings is to me. Yesterday rolled around, and…

By golly, she did it.

And because I find I have nothing to write about this week, I thought I’d share the highlights of the day.

Random decorations before we get to the super interesting part (namely, food). Anna made these cool thingies to put on the wall. The Obi-Wan quote was my idea. “Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke. Use the Force, Luke!”

This was my contribution to the decorations.

So what does celebrating May the 4th look like? Food. A LOT of food. And even though this entire thing was Anna’s idea, I ended up making most of it. Except these.

These are Anna’s handiwork. BB8 pancakes. Are they not the cutest?!

IMG_4804

This is how Anna makes pancakes.

These are my creation. Lightsaber pretzel sticks which do not look like lightsabers. For some reason, the blue ones come out perfectly and the green ones… well, just look at them. Ironic that the blue side of the picture is really light and the green side is dark.

I’ll spare you the cheesy Yoda line about the Force.

CHEWIE COOKIES! In more ways than one… *cackles*

I told you there was a lot of food.

Now for the crowning dish of the day. My food baby, my artwork, my own creation. My MASTERPIECE! Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you—

Severed Wampa-Arm Cake!

What, you don’t know what that is?

I take full responsibility for this one. Anna wanted cute little Princess Leia cupcakes, but I insisted. Don’t give me that look—I’m not a psychopath. It’s called art. Here’s another picture.

IMG_4811.JPG

I’m insanely pleased with this thing. It’s a jelly roll! With jelly inside! (Duh.) And a little bit of jelly on the outside, too! And it DIDN’T CRACK WHEN I ROLLED IT. Anna told me it was beginners’ luck, but I think that is very ungracious of her. So there.

IMG_2539.JPG
Those photobombing letters on the wall say “In a Galaxy far, far away…” Just so you know.

This sums up most of my family’s reaction to my masterpiece

IMG_4816.JPG
Guys, meet me and a knife.

This sums up MY reaction to my masterpiece.

IMG_2561.JPG
Anna made that banner, too. And those shirts. Is she not a wonder?

And this sums up everything you need to know about my relationship with my sister in one glorious picture.

Then we watched Rogue One and all cried. The end.

So, there you go. You may be wondering if we went a tad excessive.

Um…

No. No, of course not. I mean, it ain’t every day you get a slaughtered Wampa arm for dinner. Come on, people, be excited for us.

Anyway.

May the cheesiness of Star Wars live on in your hearts, and may the ghost of that dead Wampa always, always haunt you.

  1. Sarah…

THIS IS SO HILARIOUS. All of it. How do y’all even think of these things?!
We knew it was Star Wars day, but shamefully we didn’t celebrate. I think your celebration makes up for it. XD

I love the BB8 pancakes. Better than the wampa arm, Sarah. Congratulations, Anna. It’s adorable. The arm looked more realistic than the BB8…and that’s the problem. ๐Ÿ˜›

May the Fourth be with you.

(All the food looked so yum. I hope you enjoyed it.)

    1. Shame on you! And all credit must go to Anna for ingenuity. She engineered this entire thing.

Yeah… I may have gotten carried away on the Wampa arm. In my defense, I didn’t put that much jelly on the end. A lot of it oozed out when I rolled it up. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. That picture of you with the knife, that scares me. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I can honestly say I would never have thought to make a wampa arm cake. ever. Itโ€™s beautiful (though slightly disturbing ๐Ÿ˜€ ).๏Š
    And Rogue one :(:::.

  3. A mother will love anything Sarah. *raises eyebrows* It’s part of the job description, no? XD

YOU GUYS ARE HILARIOUS. I could never get away with something so whacky in my family. ๐Ÿ˜›
*resolves to do something next time whether she can get away with it or not*
    Congratulations. You’ve inspired me. :”D

    1. Very true. Psychopath or not. XD

Wow! I feel…inspirational. Look out, Flournoy house, I’ve just unleashed a Kate. *lowers voice* It was the Wampa arm, wasn’t it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    2. Kate, I sincerely apologize to your family. In the immortal words of Han Solo, “IT’S NOT MY FAULT!”

It isn’t…is it…?? Well I suppose it could possibly be SOMEWHAT my fault. I was the one who would stick a raisin in the middle of the face of a gingerbread man cookie and call him a “cyclops”….*chortles gleefully*

  5. The Wampa arm is something I’d totally do. And my family would probably have the same reaction. And I would hold the knife and chuckle gleefully for the camera. Psychopaths unite! ๐Ÿ˜› This is awesome. All of it. (And those shirts are amazing, Anna.)

  6. This is hilarious! I loved it! Yes, I know it passed, but i’ve been reading your old posts and suddenly saw Yoda… I’m a big Star Wars fan. I started watching Clone Wars when I was 4. I love the wanna arm!! I think I would have had your reaction to it.
